I began taking singing lessons with Margaret Thomas at aged 16. In 2002 became a member of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and went on the 2003 world tour. In the same year I was the first vocalist ever to become a finalist in the Bristol Rotary Young Musician of the Year competition. I had lessons from the head of vocal studies at the Royal Academy of Music Mark Wildman, while studying for my degree in Chemistry at Imperial College London. I sang the bass solos in the college's performances of Faure's Requiem and Haydn's Nelson Mass. After graduating I went to work as an English teacher in Japan singing with local music societies on the side. After returning in 2010 I became a member of Bristol Opera and Amorata. Recently, I won the Opera and German Lieder classes, and the Adjudicator's Prize at the 2011 Bristol Festival of Music, Speech and Drama.
